課程概述與目標(Course Overview and Goals)：This course is designed to familiarize students with the structural and stylistic features of journalistic English. It aims to help students get to know journalism as a start and learn how to read English news stories on a wide range of topics, from which to improve their command of English as the ultimate goal. There are several tasks for those who sign up for this course. First, all the students are required to attend the workshop on a separate day from the class. We are working with CNA, Central News Agency, in the hope of helping students learn more about real-life journalism and win CNA’s possible internships in the future. Second, students are required to read assigned news stories from the course packet as well as from the designated links at Online University (網路大學) to major news websites worldwide. In-class exercises and quizzes will be based on the assigned readings. Apart from regular attendance, students will have to work in pairs to give an oral midterm presentation and take a written final exam.
