課程概述與目標 Course Overview and Goals: The course sees translation as a teachable subject that students will study in two respects: first, translation as a way to improve students’ command of both English and Chinese by a comparative study of these two languages; second, translation as a professional skill with which to produce reliably translated texts. Accordingly, we will examine some major structural differences between English and Chinese throughout the semester, so that students will be able to produce more idiomatic translations without getting too much interfered by their mother tongue. Meanwhile, some translation methodologies will be introduced as a framework for students to work on their translation projects in the course.
